Human Resources Leadership: Becoming a Business Partner


This course will give senior human resources professionals ideas and techniques to develop and deliver HR strategies that connect with the missions and business strategies of their organizations. The course will provide an overview of the trends in current literature for business strategy and HR competencies. Participants will apply the concepts learned to their own organizations by designing an HR business strategy, which will be shared and discussed with class participants.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how to develop a human resources strategy that is supportive of business strategy
  • Identify and examine the competencies that are most important for senior HR professionals
  • Identify and examine the latest trends in business strategy and how to tailor them to your organization
Prerequisites: To enroll in Senior Manager in Human Resources Professional Certificate courses, participants must meet one of the following requirements prior to enrollment:
  • Completion of the 10-course Extended Studies Human Resources Management Certificate in addition to three years of experience as a human resources professional
  • Professional/Senior Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) designation granted through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI)
  • Minimum of five years’ professional experience working in human resources
